Are washing over us.
On Monday the van broke down but we were blessed to have the use of Job's car at the time.
Job's car broke down yesterday.
Our family of six has been reduced to relying on the '96 Chevy S-10 formerly of Sanel Auto Parts for transportation. But we're laughing and happy, if a bit philosiphically grim.
God is good, after all, and we're feeling that as keenly as ever. God's providence has a way of obscuring his goodness. When the checking account, the refrigerator, and the driveway are all pleasantly full we begin to think that things are only as they're supposed to be. That happy condition becomes the baseline and we think that if God wants to prove his goodness he must improve our condition, rather than simply take credit for it.
But in the absence of his providence I'm left with his goodness. And he is good. The Psalmist says "Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me. By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me - a prayer to the God of my life." (Psalm 42:7b-8)
Amen

I love you guys - I'm praying for you today!
My car will be in the ER lot from 0645 until 1910 next Monday (23rd) and then the same hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving! It is at your disposal for each and every one of those days.
Ughhh...I'm feelin' you, brah. What an awesome opportunity to be Christlike! Praying that you would revel in your S-10 and enjoy the challenge of resting in our provider God.
In the statement, "We are in the world, but not of it." I often tend to focus on the "not of it" part, but it is no less true that God knows that we are "in the world." I look forward to hearing how God meets your need.I wish we could be the source of the provision.
