Stone Mountain, Georgia

I took Obie & Lucy on a train ride around the mountain while Joel was on a Sky Hike with Grace & Elisabeth.

Stonewall Jackson, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis carved into the side of the mountain.

The Sky Hike

It was 105 degrees that day and this little stream was like a piece of "heaven" for Lucy & Obie.

We took the gondola up to the top of the mountain.

My kids wilting in the heat.

Joel is pointing to Atlanta.

Elisabeth is doing  The Job.

Georgia Aquarium

Waiting to go into the aquarium.

What is Dave doing??

I should of turned off my flash.

Reba met someone while we were there.

I like how they are all looking in different directions.

Last week, we took Obadiah to the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth, for two days of testing.  Our goal was to find out what was causing his speech delay.  He left there with a diagnosis of multiple areas of motor planning difficulties involving oromotor, verbal complexity and fine motor skills.  The root of his problem and the main diagnosis is dyspraxia. There are three types of dyspraxia in children; oral, verbal, and motor.  Obie has oral and verbal dyspraxia.  He also has a fine motor delay and hypotonicity. In the US, doctors and speech therapists still call it apraxia, and in the UK and Australia they will refer to it as dyspraxia (just in case you google it). Dyspraxia will always be a part of who Obadiah is.  He will continue to receive speech and language therapy and begin functional occupational therapy soon.  Joel and I are very pleased with his diagnosis and are in full agreement.  We feel this diagnosis will help us to better meet our son's needs.  He is a precious and unique gift from God.  We are truly blessed.

Fun facts about Dyspraxia:

  • Dyspraxia or Apraxia use to be called Clumsy Child Syndrome.  We decided to bring it back.
  • Daniel Radcliffe (aka. Harry Potter) has dyspraxia.

My grandmother (Dorthy Elizabeth Forster) died yesterday. She was one of my biggest fans and I hers. When I look back at my childhood there are few memories where she isn't present. I am blessed to have so many wonderful memories of moments with her. I am who I am because of her, she instilled the fear of God in me, and for that I am eternally grateful. ♥

The Wide Mouth Frog

These pictures are a bit fuzzy but still cute.  Lucy was the Momma Frog and Obie was a baby frog.  In all the pictures, Lucy is in the center, and Obie is to her left.  I am very proud of my frogs.  Rib-bit!
