Feast of Pigs: Free Day at The Vermont State Fair

We let the kids go on one ride each. Elisabeth was brave and went on the swings by herself.
The girls wait while Elisabeth swings around. I love Lucy's style.
These two went on a "roller coaster". Lucy screamed and then stopped in surprise when her hat flew off during the ride.
Feasting on "clean" fair food . . .

The Feast of Pigs

It's Feast of Pigs Eve and visions of unclean animals are dancing in my head.

We are truly in the midst of the Tate holiday season and blessed to have two of the high holy days occurring on top of each other. Happy Day is going to be on Thursday, this year. Unprecedented.

I would encourage everyone out there to celebrate Peter's vision on the rooftop in Joppa with me by eating as much of the flesh of unclean animals as you can. We seldom eat any pork products but there is definitely bacon on the menu for breakfast tomorrow. I will also eat some crickets and some hot dogs and if I make it to the Vermont State Fair the possibilities for unclean food are endless.

I would also encourage you to use the traditional Feast of Pigs salutation formula of "It is clean," "It is clean indeed."

And check out this link for a charming Feast of Pigs carol: http://gardenofpraise.com/bibsong55.htm

Harvest Time: Working hard before the Feast of Pigs

We made zucchini relish today.
I had lots of help today!?

Our first apple pie of the season. The bottom crust is Grandma Tate's recipe with a crumb topping. We are waiting for Joel to come home so we can eat this.

The first of our tomato crop
Grace peeling & slicing the apples. I love her various facial expressions.

Bread & butter pickles (we did these yesterday).
Jam: We made cherry, strawberry, strawberry-rhubarb, & black-cap jam this year
We still have zucchini & cucumbers growing, our second crop of beans are coming in and these are the first of the apples from the Woods.
Drying onions and beans out on the back deck.

It was quiet . . .

It was quiet this morning and I went hunting for my wild four and this is what I found . . .

I like it when they play together . . . quietly.
