Eunice, Before and After

I grew up with a dog that looked a lot like this. "Bop" was part sheepdog and round and hairy...but in the summers we'd shave him to find a skinny little mutt hiding under all that hair.
For that reason, I love this post. It's very evocative for me. I'd forgotten all about that transformation.
Eunice looks kinder without that hair- and she looks younger, too.

I grew up with a dog named Fuzzy who looked a lot like this too--until I surrendered her into Tate custody, something that turned out to be wonderful for her.
Hugo's the same way--just a glut of matted hair (without the excuse Eunice has, that her breed is meant to look that way).
For fun & to sate my curiosity once, I had him weighed before and after a haircut. SIX. POUNDS.
I agree with Sarah-although I've never seen Euny in person, she does look so kind and earnest. Maybe it's just because her face is visible, and so expressive.
Hugo's due for his cut soon.
I trim him every few weeks; as a mix between bichon & cavalier he has a combo of fur and hair, so it's beautiful and soft, but tough to manage. To save money I keep him trimmed to a reasonable length and then go in only twice a year for the actual major sheering.
I was about to post about it. Might still.
Three strangers have called him a sheep in the past month.
Eunice is beautiful, Christine.
And Sarah: Bop is a killer dog name.
